Pathology of the skull
The main pathology of the skull that we operate on is :
- Brain injury;
- cranioplasty;
- tumor brain
- hydrocephalus;
- brain stroke (cerebral stroke).
Craniomandibular trauma (CMT)
- is a condition that occurs as a result of traumatic damage to the brain, its membranes, blood vessels, skull bones and external head covering. Severe TBI includes contusion and compression of the brain, intracranial haemorrhage (haematoma).
If necessary, we operate on all types of intracranial haematomas (haemorrhages) and depressed skull fractures.
Cranioplasty
- is an operation to restore or reconstruct the bone structure of the skull in order to correct defects and restore damaged areas of the bone.
We carry out plastic surgery of skull defects of varying complexity, work with modern certified implants, and perform computer modelling of implants to fit the shape of the skull defect
Removal of tumours
Hydrocephalus
- is an intracranial accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the subdural spaces and ventricles. Another name is "hydrocephalus".
We perform all types of ventriculostomy operations using modern certified implants. The purpose of the operation is to regulate the intracranial cerebrospinal fluid pressure by discharging excessive amounts into the subperitoneal space or vascular bed.
Cerebral stroke
- is an acute disorder of cerebral circulation that occurs as a result of damage to a part of the brain. A stroke is most often a complication of hypertension and develops against the background of a sharp increase in blood pressure.
We have the possibility of round-the-clock CT scanning of the brain on the basis of the 1st TMC in Lviv - St. Luke's Hospital - if necessary, we are ready to carry out surgical treatment - removal of intracranial haemorrhage (stroke-haematoma).
